Dateline: McDonalds Playplace, Florence SC

The Atlanta family got on the road only 4 hours after our targeted departure time. Things in our hometown got a bit heated, so I had to rearrange my schedule to compensate. After I stood in the sun for an hour on Friday, I had a huge headache, so I had to get up Saturday morning and pack—pack the clothes to pack the car. I actually woke up at 9:30am, when JaxMom called as she hit the road. I called her back at 12:30pm, and didn’t want to tell her where I was—filling up three blocks from my house.

If I'd left on time, we could have met for lunch in Florence, but I'm here for dinner. It’s actually pretty nice, because my kids are frolicking on the slides, and I’m opting to swipe bandwidth from the Holiday Inn next door rather than pay $3.00 for two hours of access. (If someone has a good deal for traveling wireless, I’d love to hear it. I’d prefer a “pay as you go” phone-card type plan to a year’s commitment, because honestly, I’ve got too many commitments as it is.) The thought for today? Network security.

I do want to give a shout-out of thanks to my brother-in-law, who took the different graphics I sent him and designed our header. I had assured him that just about anything he did was absolutely fine, but managed to come up with nine tweaks. Nine different times. And if he wanted to work on it some more, I could have come up with nine more. We actually were pretty happy with numbers 1 through 8, but this one was the best.

We're about halfway to Middle Of Nowhere, North Carolina, where an understanding aunt is keeping us the next couple of days. Today's drive was the hardest for several reasons, not least of which was that it was just me and my two kids. Monday we have a 3 hour drive to the Williamsburd/Jamestown/Yorktown area, which we'll hardly notice since there will be company for all of us.
